IND vs BAN: There is a lot of chatter on social media about Bazball because the Indian Cricket Team, on Monday (September 30) played its very own version of it in the rain-hit second Test match against Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur.
After two consecutive days of play getting washed out due to rain and wet outfield, play resumed on day four of the Test match. The opening day of the match also witnessed only 35 overs of play.

Indian bowlers did well to bowl out Bangladesh inside two sessions and restricted them to 233 inside 75 overs. Jasprit Bumrah, being the wrecker-in-chief for Team India on a sunny day in Kanpur. Bumrah returned with three wickets, all came on day four, to his name, providing wholesome entertainment to the crowd pouring out in large numbers.
Other bowlers too did well as they picked up the remaining seven wickets on day four, conceding 126 runs in almost 40 overs they bowled. With just a little over four sessions in hand, Team India - who are already 1-nil up in the two-match series and eyeing vital World Test Championship points - did something unthinkable with the bat.
Captain Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings for India and the duo immediately cleared their intentions - they are going to score quickly and try to get a result out of this game. Also Read: Runs and ruins! Indian batters destroy Bangladesh on Day 4
While Yashasvi started the proceedings with three consecutive boundaries and then Rohit got off the mark with two towering maximums. That set the tone for the day as the rampaging Indian batting lineup reset the world records for the fastest team 50, 100, 200 and 250 in men's Test cricket. Rohit-Yashasvi set the pace by scoring 51 off just 18 balls.
India, thus, ended up declaring their first innings at 285/9, which they posted in 34.4 overs, with a lead of 52 runs with the sole intention of bowling the opposition out in the second innings on day five and going for a win.
India bowling coach Morne Morkel was mighty impressed with the way young Jaiswal (72 off 51) and Rohit (23 off 11) batted and lavished praise upon both. Speaking to the media at the post-match press conference, the former South Africa pacer lauded the 22-year-old opener for the way he hits the ball.
Morkel said, "It was incredible. I mean, I think it's a record today, fastest to 50, 100, and then 200. And he's just, the way he's hitting the ball, it's incredible. But again, I take it back to training.
"I watch him train now. You know, that guy, he's got a routine, he's got a process that he follows in his back. And, you know, there's a reason why he's good putting out the runs in the ball, because of that," the 39-year-old Protea stated.
When asked about the impact of Rohit's knock as he scored 23 off 11 balls and further pushed the visitors on the back foot, the bowling coach lauded the Indian skipper not just for his batting and captaincy.
Talking about the batting unit's overall aggressive approach, Morkel remarked, "I think it was a collective buy-in from the batting group and that is important. And from GG's (Gautam Gambhir) point of view as well, we decided, okay, let's see what way, (we can) take the game forward as fast as possible.
"And, you know, you need a leader from the front to do that. And Rodek has done it so many times, you know, for India and again today. To go first ball, bang, six, you know, on a surface where you think, okay, the bounce might be up and down, or you're not quite sure how the new ball is going to play."
He even praised Rohit for rotating his bowlers well in the morning session as wickets were not easy to come by early. "You know, just to make his mark in that fashion, I think as a bowling unit, you also can be slightly going on the back foot. So, it was great to see that the captain, you know, leading from the front with that and then putting in the charge," he claimed.
