Jason Roy
The young England opener failed to fire in the previous game against KKR, but he will open the Lions' innings against Sunrisers. He scored 12 in the first game against KKR.

Brendon McCullum
He may have retired from international cricket but his exploits in the T20 format hasn't waned. He scored 35 or 24 balls against KKR in the first match.
The vitriolic former New Zealand cricketer will be one of the most feared batsmen in the tournament for he is capable of demolishing any kind of attack.
McCullum would open the innings for the Lions and his quality to explode from the very first ball of his innings makes him the most dangerous batsman in the business.

Suresh Raina
The Gujarat Lions skipper slammed a half-century and top scorer for the side but his unbeaten innings of 68 off 51 went in vain.
Raina is one of the most consistent performers of Indian Premier League and his team would be hoping for some more inspiring knocks in the middle order by this southpaw.

Aaron Finch
The Australian batsman needs no introduction when it comes to T20 exploits but he couldn't do as expected in the last game.
Finch's presence at No. 4 means the team wouldn't be bothered much if any opener departs cheaply for he's an explosive batsman.

Dinesh Karthik
The wicketkeeper batsman played a whirlwind knock against KKR in the previous match. Team would be expecting a similar performance from him in this game too.

James Faulkner
The Australia all-rounder was in good form last season and team would be hoping for another all-round performance from him this year as well.
Faulkner is a brilliant death overs' bowler and great hitter of the ball, lower down the order. All these quality of the left-handed speedster make him an asset for any side his plays.

Basil Thampi
The young Kerala pacer Basil Thampi was bought during the IPL auction by Gujarat Lions for Rs 85 lakh against his base price of Rs 10 lakh.
The bowler would be paid much higher than experienced Munaf Patel and Manpreet Gony, who will also play for Gujarat Lions in IPL-10.
As Gony failed to make any impression in the first match, Thampi may get a chance against Sunrisers today.

Praveen Kumar
The veteran pacer would be leading the pace attack of the Gujarat Lions side. He may not be able to make it to the national side anymore but his ability to swing the ball both ways make him very lethal.
He was standout performer for Gujarat with the ball in the previous match.

Dhawal Kulkarni
The right-arm pacer was the best pacer for the franchise in their debut season.
His performance in the previous game wasn't good. Kulkarni consistently picked up wickets early on in the innings and this was a reason why Gujarat were such a successful side in the last season.

Shadab Jakati
The left-arm orthodox spinner had a decent outing the last season. He is also very handy with the bat and, thus, he will get a chance in the playing XI on Sunday as well.

Shivil Kaushik
The left-arm mystery spinner from Gurdaspur was under a lot of spotlight last year but couldn't perform as expected. Same was the case in the previous match too, bu the condition of other Gujarat bowlers was no different in that game too. Hence, he will once again get a place in Gujarat's playing XI today.
