Pune, April 6: Uncapped young Tamil Nadu all-rounder Washington Sundar has been picked up by Rising Pune Supergiant to replace injured Ravichandran Ashwin for the IPL 2017.

Sundar was quoted by per a report published in Times of India as saying, "I'm feeling really excited to see this new world."
"Ashwin is a legend and getting a chance to be part of the team in place of him is a big thing for me. After getting this opportunity, I have gained more belief in my hard work," he further said.
Sundar made some consistent performances for Tamil Nadu in the recently conculded Vijay Hazare and Deodhar Trophy tournaments.
He is a left-hand batsman who also bowls right-arm off-break. He has played only five first-class matches and nine List A matches so far. He was also part of India's U-19 World Cup squad which lost to West Indies in 2016.
Ashwin's absence will be badly missed by his franchise, which will be playing it's second IPL season.
South Africa spinner Imran Tahir, who was bought after Mitchell Marsh was ruled out, will now be heading spin department along with Australian Adam Zampa.
