New Delhi, Feb 26: Putting an end to speculations, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab have finally revealed their captain for the upcoming IPL 2018 season.
Senior India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be leading the side in the eleventh edition of the IPL, the franchise announced on Monday (February 26).
"I feel honoured to be trusted with the responsibility of leading such a talented bunch of cricketers," said Ashwin. "I am confident of bringing out the best out of teammates. This is indeed a proud moment for me."
There were talks of Yuvraj Singh, the local boy, being appointed as skipper. Team mentor Virender Sehwag admitted the name of Yuvraj cropped up during discussion before they finally settled on Ashwin.
Ashwin had been associated with MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and later played for Rising Pune Supergiants for IPL season 2016 and 2017 after Supreme Court banned CSK for two years.
