IPL 2023 Eliminator LSG vs MI: Lucknow Super Giants who finished third in the points table lived up to the expectations of having a balanced side and qualified for the playoffs. While Mumbai Indians kept the disappointments of previous seasons aside and entered the playoffs after a gap of two seasons.

The two teams will now take on each other in the Eliminator on Wednesday (May 24) at the iconic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both teams will vie for a win in the high-voltage contest and set up a Qualifier 2 date with the loser of Qualifier 1, which is being played between GT and CSK.

IPL Eliminator Home Team Rules

Lucknow Super Giants finished the league stage as the third-best team while Mumbai Indians finished at number four. As they will be playing at a neutral venue in the playoffs, hence the team that finished higher in the points table will be considered the home side. Therefore, LSG skipper Krunal Pandya will be flipping the coin in this game and his team will get the dressing room reserved for the host team.

Lucknow Super Giants Route to IPL Playoffs

Lucknow Super Giants suffered a massive setback midway through the tournament when their captain and key batter KL Rahul was ruled out of the season due to injury. But the players helped the team do well in the remaining games to keep themselves in the hunt.

Under stand-in captain Krunal Pandya, LSG won 8 of their 14 league games. They lost five of those games and one match was washed out and points were split. LSG thus finished with 17 points and a healthy net run rate of 0.284.

Mumbai Indians Route to IPL Playoffs

Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians lived up to their late-bloomers tag and another topsy-turvy start to their campaign in the competition. MI - the champions of the 2020 season - finished at the bottom half of the points table in 2021 and 2021 editions and by the halfway stage it seemed MI's campaign went off track.

But the champion side that MI is made a comeback and returned to the winning ways. With 5 wins in their last seven league games, MI kept themselves in the race and qualified with 8 wins and 6 defeats in 14 games. With 16 points, MI became the fourth team to book the playoffs berth despite having the net run rate in negative (-0.044).
