IPL 2023 Final CSK vs GT: MS Dhoni stumps Shubman Gill in 0.12 seconds, stuns Orange Cap holder - Watch

IPL 2023 Final CSK vs GT: MS Dhoni once again proved there's no one quicker than him behind the stumps when it comes to effecting those lightning-fast stumpings in world cricket.

The Chennai Super Kings' captain effected the stumping of a dangerous-looking Gujarat Titans' opening batter Shubman Gill in the all-important IPL 2023 Final at Narendra Modi Stadium on Monday (May 29).

Gill - who got an early reprieve on three when Deepak Chahar dropped a sitter of a catch of the in-form batter - went on adding 36 more runs to his individual total and was looking in menacing touch.

The exceedingly talented right-handed batter from India, who slammed a match-winning 129 off 60 balls in Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians, was in a mood to torment the Super Kings' bowlers.

With 890 runs in 17 innings, the 23-year-old cricketer became the second-highest leading run-scorer in a single season of the IPL and looked on course to complete 900 runs in the season. However, his charge was stalled by Dhoni - the quickest man behind the stumps and the sharpest mind in the world of cricket.

On the final ball of the seventh over bowled by Ravindra Jadeja, Gill tried to stretch forwards to drive the ball bowled around off-stumps. The ball drifted sharply away from the batter, who missed it completely but Dhoni - who was alert as usual - quickly collected the ball in his gloves and broke the stumps in split seconds.

The legendary India glovesman - who hardly practices wicketkeeping in the nets - will turn 42 on July 7 and showed no signs of slowing. Dhoni received praise from veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle and his fellow India and CSK teammate Harbhajan Singh.

"I didn't believe him when he told me that he hadn't practised wicket-keeping between two IPLs. Why should he when he can do this? Still the fastest hands in the game. Incredible. Astonishing. That is a stunning stumping from MSD," tweeted Bhogle.

In the Hindi commentary box, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh - who also lifted the IPL trophy with CSK in 2018 - went gaga over Dhoni's quick glovework and said, "This man continues to amaze even at this age and shows no signs of slowing down. His reaction time to effect that stumping of Gill was just 0.12 seconds. Incredible."
