The MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is the second-oldest stadium in India after the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
MA Chidambaram stadium was named after Muthiah Annamalai Chidambaram, a former president of BCCI and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). It was originally known as Madras Cricket Club Ground. The stadium is also known as Chepauk because of its location in Chennai, around the area name Chepauk.

The stadium was established in 1916 and is located adjacent to Marina beach in Chennai, at the shore of the Bay of Bengal. This is the home to IPL side Chennai Super Kings as the Yellow Army are set to play their home matches in front of the home crowd after a long gap of four years.

Chepauk in Chennai has always been a decent pitch for the batters over the years. It is normally very hard and dry, and tends to break down as the game goes on. It has always assisted spinners and their is almost no grass covering on the pitch. And given the home team Chennai Super Kings' spin supremacy, expect more of the same in this IPL.
Chennai is generally hot and humid during this time. Hence expect temperature around 33° C during the afternoon which will be cooling down as the evening approaches. There will be sticky, humid conditions given its proximity to the sea. The weather is at least set to be clear sky for the first couple of weeks of the IPL, but can expect scattered thunderstorm during the course of the competition.
