The IPL 2024 auction is nearing as we get closer to it, teams are finalizing their strategy for the event.
Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions are also in the mix and are readying their warhorse to conquer the auction table. But there may well be a slot they would be hoping to fulfil in the upcoming auction.

The IPL 2023 CSK squad was a unique one as for the first time, the Chennai Super Kings didn't have any representative from Tamil Nadu. Despite them lifting the trophy, there was a backlash within the Tamil Nadu cricketing fraternity that lamented CSK for not having any of the state's players.
In the upcoming auction, we can expect CSK going full throttle for a couple of Tamil Nadu players. Although there squad doesn't need a massive overhaul, here are three Tamil Nadu players who the Chennai Super Kings may want for the upcoming season-
Shahrukh Khan is a proven performer in the IPL and TNPL circuit. The flamboyant batter is a menace for bowlers and can play a finisher role in the CSK setup. And being a Tamil Nadu player, CSK will definitely eye him.
Shahrukh was released by Punjab Kings ahead of the auction but he will be going for a hefty price. Given CSK's budget backing in the auction, we can expect them to be in the race for Shahrukh. Ravichandran Ashwin predicts war at IPL 2024 Auction for Shahrukh Khan, and CSK would definitely love to leave victorious from the battlefield.
Narayan Jagadeesan was snapped up by Kolkata Knight Riders last season but CSK was in the race. KKR have released him this year and the door is open for others to pounce on this opportunity. Chennai Super Kings can make a move for the wicketkeeper-batter given his pedigree in the domestic cricket.
The hard-hitter can play a big role for CSK and we may see him joining his state franchise this time around.
Sandeep Warrier has found his rhythm with Tamil Nadu this season. The pacer has picked up 9 wickets in just three Vijay Hazare matches and has done pretty well in the TNPL as well.
The 32-year-old has been part of IPL franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians but a season with CSK can be transforming for him, especially under the guidance of MS Dhoni. And after switching allegiance to Tamil Nadu from Kerala, we can expect CSK making a move for the in-form pacer in the auction.
Hari Nishanth is another player who Chennai Super Kings may attempt to rope in at the auction. The opening batter has been a prolific scorer in the Tamil Nadu Premier League and is known for his hard-hitting ability.
CSK do have a decent opening combination but Hari Nishanth can be a potential alternative for Devon Conway. The southpaw's ability to bowl decent offbreak is an added value and CSK may bid for him.
