Just a day before the start of IPL 2024, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed as the new captain for Chennai Super Kings replacing the five-time champion Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Gaikwad has been part of CSK since 2019 and played 52 matches for the franchise. In the 2021 IPL campaign, he won the orange cap, helping CSK to become champion for the fourth time.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is an Indian batter born in Pune, Maharashtra on January 31, 1997. He first came into headlines during the 2016-17 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he ended as the third-highest run-scorer. Gaikwad also made his debut in T20 and ODI for India after his success in IPL.
