IPL 2024: The ongoing India Premier League (IPL) 2024 season is interesting as players from across the world are trying to give their best to make a case for themselves in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 which will be held in June in the West Indies and the USA.
The Indian players are no different. The competition for the limited spots will intensify with every passing match of the tournament. While the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah are certain of finding a place, there are others like Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal who are trying to grab the attention of the selectors with their performances.

Among the competition between the heavyweights, there are a bunch of players, who can make a surprise entry in the India squad for T20 World Cup 2024. We have shortlisted four such players who can be surprise entries in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
Riyan Parag: After 25 matches of IPL 2024, Riyan Parag is the second-highest run-scorer in the ongoing season. In five matches for Rajasthan Royals (RR), Parag has scored 261 runs at an average of 87 and a strike rate of 158.18. The Assam batter has hit three fifties in his five outings. The youngster can emerge as a solid option for India in the middle order.
Mayank Yadav: On the slow wickets of the West Indies and the USA, the steamy pacer of Mayank Yadav would be a boon for India. A fit Mayank Yadav bowling alongside Jasprit Bumrah would be a sight to behold. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer has bowled the fastest delivery of IPL 2024 at 156.7 kmph. His speed and accuracy has also stood out apart from his pace.
Abhishek Sharma: A top-order batter who can bowl, is rare in Indian cricket these days. But Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) Abhishek Sharma has the ability to give India that option. The southpaw from Punjab has scored 177 runs in five matches at an average of 35.40 and a whopping strike rate of 208.23. The left-arm spinner also has 30 T20 wickets to his name.
Dinesh Karthik: Harsha Bhogle has already declared Dinesh Karthik the best Indian finisher in the IPL 2024. The 38-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has scored 143 runs in six matches at an average of 71.50 and a strike rate of 190.66.
If not the first-choice wicketkeeper-batter, Karthik can surely find a place as backup in India squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. He smashed a 22-ball fifty against Mumbai Indian on Thursday (April 11), and Rohit Sharma pulled his legs by saying that the veteran was thinking about the T20 World Cup.
