Dinesh Karthik Biography
  • Krishnakumar Dinesh Karthik, simply known as Dinesh Karthik, is an Indian professional cricketer who plays for the Indian Cricket Team and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. He is also the current captain of the Tamil Nadu cricket team in domestic cricket. He made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2004. 
  • Karthik became the 4th Indian batsman to play 300 T20 matches. He was a member of the Indian team that won both the inaugural 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
  • Born on  1 June 1985 in Madras, Tamil Nadu, Karthik is aged 37 at the time of IPL 2023. He is a right-handed wicketkeeper batsman but never quite make it very big in international cricket despite making his debut at a very early age. Later on, he struggled to get opportunities due to the presence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the Indian side. However, he has done incredibly well in the latter stage of his career.
  • Karthik made his first-class debut in late 2002 against Baroda as a wicket-keeper. Karthik was selected for the India squad in the 2004 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh, and scored two half-centuries on an India A tour to Zimbabwe. He made his Test debut in the fourth match between India and Australia in Mumbai in October 2004, replacing Parthiv Patel. He also made his ODI debut in 2004 against England.
  • Karthik formerly played for Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Lions and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. He also captained Kolkata Knight Riders between 2018 and 2020.
  • His good performance in the IPL 2022 season for RCB earned him a national call up for the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia and played as a finisher.
