Punjab Kings will be taking the field in this IPL 2024 campaign with the purpose of qualifying for the playoffs. Since their runners-up appearance in 2014, they are yet to qualify for the playoffs in the tournament.
Over the years, a lot of changes have happened but the elusive playoff spot has so far been an elision for the Kings.

The IPL 2024 auction saw them splashing cash on some decent players and the hope is that this set of players will propel them to the next stage.

Here are four young PBKS players who can make a name for themselves in this edition.
Punjab's own son Prabhsimran Singh had a decent outing last season. The dashing batter scored 358 runs in 14 matches and also scored a hundred in the tournament.
Prabhsimran is known for his aggressive batting and will be a big part of their plans this season. The 23-year-old may have enhanced responsibilities, especially after encouraging domestic season. His role as a no3 or opener can be a telling factor in overall Punjab's batting performance. So keep an eye on the youngster.
Vidhwath Kaverappa has been a vital cog in the Karnataka team. The young pacer is known for his accuracy and economical bowling and has had success in the domestic circuit.
The 25-year-old, who idolizes Glenn McGrath and Dale Steyn, has 23 T20 wickets and has an impressive economy which is under six. He didn't play a single match for the Kings last season but definitely expect to showcase his talent this season. Kaverappa also represented India A last year, and it is to be seen whether he can surmount his place in the Kings bowling unit.
Another PBKS talent who can have a breakthrough this season is Atharva Taide.
Taide has been with Punjab Kings since 2023 and played 7 matches for them last season, scoring 186 runs at a strike rate of 144. The Vidarbha player is known for his hard-hitting batting and scores at a brisk pace. Along with his prowess with willow, the southpaw can bowl left arm spin, which adds his value to the team.
Kings can use him as an Impact Player and the 23-year-old will be longing to shine at the centre stage.
Ashutosh Sharma was roped in by PBKS in the 2024 auction. Sharma, 25, has made a name for himself in the domestic circuit as a devastating batter.
Initially a Madhya Pradesh player, he has switched his allegiance and plays for Railways in domestic cricket.
He can be an outlet for PBKS in the middle order who can thrash the bowling. Sharma's T20 credentials are superb. Though a small sample size, he has so far scored a boundary in every three balls, and has a strike rate of 197.6 after 14 T20 matches.
Though IPL is a different scenario altogether, Sharma can be a force for Punjab Kings and demonstrate his destructive power with the bat.
