Week 2 of the cricket carnival - Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 continued to see some records tumble and thrilling matchups as we witnessed 8 matches being played across six venues from March 30 to April 5.
Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders, who remain perfect along with Rajasthan Royals, finished week two at the top of the IPL 2024 points table thanks to their superior net run rate (NRR).

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings, who had topped the standings at the end of the first week of the season, suffered back-to-back losses in the second week, which also saw Lucknow Super Giants claim two wins in two matches.
While Andre Russell, who was the best player in week 1, continued his form with both bat and ball, his compatriot and teammate Sunil Narine was among the standout players in the second week. However, there were several other individual performances as well in week 2.
Rajasthan Royals’ in-form Riyan Parag and Delhi Capitals’ Rishabh Pant also dominated the run-scoring charts, but it was a bowler, who we back in the batsman’s game this week. Here is a look at myKhel's standout player from week 2 of IPL 2024:
As mentioned earlier, T20 or even the limited overs format is a batter’s game. So, when a bowler dominates the game, he’s got to be special, especially when consistently hitting the 150kmph mark.
LSG’s success in the second week was only due to Mayank Yadav’s sheer pace that instilled fear among the opposition batters as the 21-year-old bagged six wickets in two matches and also won the player of the match in his only 2 appearances in IPL.
Mayank is the standout player of the second week in IPL 2024 thanks to his figures of 3 for 27 against Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, which changed the outcome of the match, reducing PBKS from 102 for no loss in 11.3 overs to 139 for 3 in 15.4 overs, denting the run chase.
The lanky speedster continued from where he left of when LSG visited the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where he bowled the fastest ball yet in IPL 2024 by clocking 156.7kmph and went on to finish with figures of 3 for 14 in 4 overs to put RCB on the back foot in the chase.
With more games being lined up for the upcoming week, the Delhi pacer, who has already been backed by many to be part of the Indian T20 World Cup 2024 squad, can further stake his claim with even more fiery bowling performances.
