Born on June 17, 2002 in Delhi, Mayank Yadav plays for Delhi cricket team in domestic competition. He operates as a right-arm fast bowler and is one of the talents who quickly carved out a reputation for himself with his pace and skill. He is already being tipped as a future fast-bowling star for India should he stays fit.
Mayank made his professional debut in T20 cricket for Delhi against Manipur on October 11, 2022. After that, he made his List A debut against Haryana a couple of months later. He played his first first-class game for Delhi against Maharashtra, demonstrating his enthusiasm to handle different formats of the game.
In February 2023, the Lucknow Super Giants acquired his services for the IPL season for INR 20 lakhs. Although an injury kept him out of the 2023 season, he made a remarkable IPL debut in 2024 against the Punjab Kings. He accounted for three dismissals, giving away 27 runs.
He drew plaudits from every nook and corner of the IPL fraternity for bowling the fastest ball of the IPL 2024, clocking in at 155.8 km/h. Notably, he was adjudged the man of the match for his bowling masterclass.
The Delhi-born cricketer continued his superb form in the following game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, taking 3 wickets, conceding only 14 runs. Quite interestingly, he also went on to break his previous fastest delivery record by increasing his speed to 156.7 km/h.
