IPL 2024: 'Orange Cap doesn't win you IPL' - Ambati Rayudu takes Major Dig at RCB again as KKR win 3rd IPL Title

Former CSK batter Ambati Rayudu has been at odds with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in recent times during the IPL 2024.

The former India star has been a critic of RCB throughout the season. After RCB's early horror show, Rayudu destroyed Virat Kohli and other RCB Stars and accused them of the franchise's failure over the years.

The ongoing jibes took another turn when CSK were knocked out by RCB as the Bengaluru outfit qualified for the playoffs. Rayudu then notched it up with a message to RCB fans when they got eliminated from the tournament.

And after KKR's victory to win the 3rd title, the ex-CSK player has struck again with another jibe at RCB.

Virat Kohli won the Orange Cap this season. The RCB batter scored 741 runs and was by far the highest scorer in the tournament. But despite his fantastic performance, RCB fell short as their wait for the maiden IPL title continues.

Rayudu, in the post-match show, took a direct jibe at RCB and said that winning the Orange Cap doesn't provide the title to a team.

"The KKR team have benefitted from stalwarts like Narine, Russell and Starc who contributed their share in the team's win. That's how a team wins the IPL that we have seen over the years. It's not the Orange Cap that wins you the IPL, but the [collective] contributions," Rayudu said.

It has been another disappointing season for RCB but Kohli played his part again. His Orange Cap award was taken by KKR captain Shreyas Iyer but Kohli had a message for the fans.

"Extremely honoured to win the orange cap this season. It was a rollercoaster of a ride, I was really pleased with the way I performed for the team, especially in the latter half where we needed to win every game to qualify. Looking forward to replicate the performance in the IPL 2025 and thank you everyone for your support," Kohli said in a pre-recorded video.
