Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta has shared has finally opened up on the Shashank Singh saga in the IPL 2024 auction.
Shashank Singh played a superb knock to win Punjab a crucial match against the Gujarat Titans on Thursday (April 4), but there was huge confusion regarding his auction process.

PBKS seemed to have made a mistake after buying the player and immediately wanted to revoke their buy, but it was the auctioneer Mallika Sagar who was adamant that the player was sold and in the end, the Kings had to settle with Shashank.
The franchise later released a statement saying Shashank was always in their plans. Amid the doubts over Shashank, Punjab gave him an opportunity in all the matches so far and it came to fruition on Thursday as the 32-year-old played a sublime knock in Ahmedabad.
After that, the PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta has heaped Shashank Singh with praises and hailed his 'positive attitude and incredible spirit.'
"Today seems like the perfect day to finally talk about things that were said in the past about us at the auction. A lot of people in similar situations would have lost confidence, buckled under pressure or become de-motivated ....... but not Shashank! He is not like a lot of people. He is truly special. Not just because of his skill as a player but because of his positive attitude & incredible spirit. He took all the comments, jokes and brick bats so sportingly & never became a victim. He backed himself and showed us what he is made of, and for that I applaud him," Preity Zinta wrote in an Instagram post.
"He has my admiration & my respect. I hope he can be an example to all of you when life takes a different turn & does not play according to script, for it's not what people think of you that matters, but what You think of Yourself! So never stop believing in yourself like Shashank & I'm sure you will be Man of the match in the game of life," the Punjab Kings owner concluded.
Shashank earlier revealed the truth about his 'Mistaken Identity' in the auction and said that he was always welcomed by the management and the franchise had all the backing that he needed.
And after Preity Zinta's words, the player himself commented with words of gratitude to the owners and the team management.
"Thank you so much for your kind words ma'am, you have always believed in me from day one and it's my privilege to play for @punjabkingsipl Franchise which is so welcoming and full of positivity. Thank you for always Supporting and it means so so much to me," Shashank replied.
The Chhatisgarh player has done justice to his talent and can be a big part of the PBKS zigsaw going forward this season. Singh's aggressive batting and finishing ability can make him a star performer for the Kings this season in the IPL.
