Royal Challengers Bangalore: Who were the best RCB players in IPL 2023?

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) restart their quest for an IPL trophy as the new season of the Indian Premier League kickstarts.

Despite having a star-studded team, the IPL title has always been an elusive one for them and they will be hoping to break the hurdle this time around.

Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL 2023 Season Recap

Royal Challengers Bangalore didn't have the best of seasons in IPL 2023. It was yet another exit from the group stages for Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis and co. They finished 6th in the table with 14 points in 14 matches.

They had the opportunity to qualify for playoffs as it was in their hands. But in the final match of the group stages, a defeat against Gujarat Titans ceased their fate.

Despite the lack of team performance, there were individual players who stood tall for them last year. Let us have a look at some of the RCB players who had an excellent IPL 2023-

Faf du Plessis

Captain Faf du Plessis led the team from the front and had a stellar season. The South African batter amassed 730 runs in 14 matches with an average over 56. He scored 8 fifties in the process, which was 40 per cent of the team's total half-centuries. Often, it was Du Plessis who gave them a flying start and clearly, he is going to be a pivotal part again in 2024.

Glenn Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell played a few superb knocks for RCB last season. He was destructive with the bat, scoring 400 runs at a strike rate of 183 last season. The Australian's knock of 76 off just 36 balls against Chennai Super Kings was a spectacle as he ended up with five half-centuries last season. With the ball, Maxwell also picked up 3 wickets.

Mohammed Siraj

The bowling department had a significant lack all season and it was Mohammed Siraj who was the sole consistent performer for RCB. Siraj picked up 19 wickets in 14 matches and got them at a decent strike rate of 15.79 balls per wicket. He was also the most economical bowler (who played more than 5 matches) as the Indian pacer was often the route for wickets in the initial overs.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, as always, had yet another fantastic outing with the bat for RCB last year. The Indian stalwart scored 639 runs a tan average of 53. He scored six fifties and topped that with a couple of centuries as well.

Kohli's two tons came against Gujarat Titans (101 off 61 balls) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (100 off 63 balls). Despite his stellar batting prowess, RCB failed to qualify for the playoffs.
