Week 3 of the cricket extravaganza - Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 saw a few records tumble, couple of centuries and two fifers in thrilling matchups in 8 matches being played across six venues from April 6 to April 12.

Rajasthan Royals, finished week three at the top of the IPL 2024 points table despite suffering their first loss of the season at the hands of Gujarat Titans, while Kolkata Knight Riders also lost their first game of the season.

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings, who had suffered back-to-back losses in the second week, returned to winning ways with an all-round display in a 7-wicket win over KKR. Mumbai Indians also got among the win column after remaining win-less in the first two weeks.

Andre Russell was our best player in week 1, but a bowling performance from Mayank Yadav pipped several batting performances in week 2. The Lucknow Super Giants pacer unfortunately picked up an injury and missed week 3 action.

Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag as well as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Virat Kohli continued to dominate the run-scoring charts. Kohli also smashed the first century of the season, but it went in vain as Jos Buttler scored the second ton of IPL 2024.

Five-time champions MI returned to winning ways, having suffered three defeats in weeks 1 and 2. MI’s turnaround was due to the bowling spells of Jasprit Bumrah, who has proved the difference on Wankhede pitches which has been unforgiving to the bowlers.

Bumrah is our standout player of the third week in IPL 2024 thanks to his figures of 5 for 21 against RCB at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as the bowling spell restricted the opposition from scoring over 200.

The Indian pace spearhead also produced a spell of 2 for 22 in the victory against Delhi Capitals at the same venue in Mumbai, where bowlers were giving away 20 runs per over.

With 7 wickets in the two matches, Bumrah also made strides in the purple cap race. The pacer is now level with RR spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who has also claimed 10 wickets so far.

Even in the first two weeks, the 30-year-old quick was among the wickets despite MI failing to win games. Bumrah’s form and consistency will be a boost for Team India heading into the T20 World Cup 2024.
