Former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni on Sunday (April 14) turned the clock backwards as he dispatched Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya for three consecutive sixes in the final over of the innings at Wankhede Stadium in the IPL 2024 match.
The 42-year-old former India cricketer stepped into the middle in the final over of CSK's innings after Daryll Mitchell was dismissed on the second ball of the 20th over.

Dhoni - who walked into the middle to yet another raucous cheer at Wankhede Stadium - faced all the remaining four balls bowled by MI skipper Hardik Pandya in that over and scored an unbeaten 20 to help CSK post a formidable 206 for 4.
The legendary batter hit the first three balls for three consecutive sixes, leaving thousands of spectators at the venue in awe. All three maximums reminded the cricket world of the old Dhoni and he took a double on the final ball of the innings. Many opined the veteran cricketer should have walked into the middle a little early, looking at the form he's in.
Dhoni added the finishing touch to CSK's innings as he finished with a strike rate of 500 in the game. But if one looks at the best strike rates in an IPL game, the former India cricketer is not even in the ten highest strike rates in the history of the competition.
However, the top 11 list of highest strike rates comprises batters who faced just one delivery and hit a six. But Dhoni and Krunal Pandya are the best as they've faced more than one delivery.
In the match between MI and CSK, their top-order duo Shivam Dube and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad showcased brilliant batting performances, each scoring impressive half-centuries to help the five-time champions post a formidable score.
Dube remained unbeaten on 66 runs off 38 deliveries, while Gaikwad hammered a quick 69 off just 40 balls, including five sixes. Their partnership of 90 runs came after CSK lost openers Ajinkya Rahul (5) and Rachin Ravindra (21) early in the innings. Gerald Coetzee, Shreyas Gopal, and Hardik Pandya claimed one wicket each for MI, while Romario Shepherd conceded 33 runs in two overs.
Chennai Super Kings posted a challenging total, reminiscent of previous matches where Mumbai Indians successfully chased similar targets at the Wankhede Stadium. Despite CSK's attempt to reshuffle their batting order, with Rahane moving up, Coetzee dismissed him within the powerplay.
Rachin Ravindra's dismissal by Shreyas Gopal further dented CSK's progress in the 8th over. However, Dube and Gaikwad's partnership turned the tide in CSK's favour, with both players displaying exquisite shot-making skills and reaching their respective fifties.
