With just two days left before the IPL 2025 retention deadline, speculation is rife regarding team strategies. Chennai Super Kings, five-time champions, are in the spotlight ahead of the retention deadline.
The primary question is whether MS Dhoni will play in the next IPL season. Although he retired from international cricket over five years ago, the former India captain can be retained as an uncapped player.

But ahead of that, the Chennai Super Kings franchise made a cryptic social media post, which has heightened speculations about their retained players.
CSK made a post on X, and the post's caption read: "The Ones You Seek is Seeking You!"
Accompanied by emojis like a helicopter and sword, it quickly went viral. The post was regarding asking the CSK fans about their retention options, but the fans observed something else in the post.
Fans speculated these were clues about retained players such as Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Matheesha Pathiarana, MS Dhoni, and Rachin Ravindra.
Despite the buzz around Ruturaj Gaikwad's potential retention, reports suggest that all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja might be CSK's top choice. Jadeja recently retired from T20 internationals after India's World Cup victory this year. This strategic move could significantly impact CSK's performance in the upcoming season.
One social media user claimed that the viral post was merely a recycled tweet from the 2021 mega auction. The legendary MS Dhoni hinted at his desire to continue playing in the IPL.
Chennai Super Kings' CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed their enthusiasm for Dhoni's continued participation.
"When he is ready, what else (do) we want? We are happy," Viswanathan told Cricbuzz on Saturday.
But despite that, MS Dhoni is set to play for CSK at least for the next year. Along with that, Ravindra Jadeja has also been tipped to stay, while Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana is another certainty in the CSK squad.
