IPL 2026, RR vs MI: Suryavanshi Blitz, Jaiswal Class Seal Big Royals Win in Rain-Hit Clash
Guwahati, April 7: Rajasthan Royals secured a commanding 27-run win over Mumbai Indians in a rain-hit IPL 2026 clash that was reduced to 11 overs per side, with their top-order brilliance and disciplined bowling proving decisive on Tuesday (April 7) here at ACA Stadium.
The Royals made full use of the shortened format, putting up a daunting total and then backing it up with a clinical effort in the field.MI vs RR Head to Head Record? Check Out Here

Riyan Parag-led Rajasthan Royals came into the game unbeaten, having won both their matches, and picked up their third straight win to climb to the top of points table. Mumbai Indians - who were looking to bounce back after their defeat against Delhi Capitals - had yet another forgettable outing in the middle.
The foundation of the victory was laid by a sensational opening burst from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who took the game away in the powerplay itself. In just 3.2 overs of field restrictions, RR raced to 59 without loss, with Suryavanshi's fearless 39 off 14 balls complementing Jaiswal's fluent strokeplay. Jaiswal carried on the momentum to produce a match-winning knock, ensuring RR posted a formidable total despite the shortened innings.
Chasing under pressure, Mumbai Indians never really found the rhythm required in a truncated contest. While there were a few attempts to counterattack, RR's bowlers kept striking at regular intervals to derail the chase. The required rate kept climbing, and MI were unable to build any meaningful partnerships to stay in contention.
In the end, it was a complete performance from Rajasthan Royals, who combined explosive batting with controlled bowling to outplay Mumbai Indians. The win further underlined RR's strong start to IPL 2026, while MI were left searching for answers after another inconsistent outing.

Some user on X has also been quick to recall the embarrassment from a few years ago, when ground staff at the Guwahati stadium resorted to using hair dryers to dry the wet pitch during an international match.

IPL 2026: RR vs MI Predicted Playing 11

Rajasthan Royals (RR): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Riyan Parag (C), Shimron Hetmyer, Donovan Ferreira, Ravindra Jadeja, Jofra Archer, Tushar Deshpande, Ravi Bishnoi, Nandre Burger
Mumbai Indians (MI): Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickleton (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (C), Sherfane Rutherford, Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult.
RR vs MI Live: Rajasthan Royals Upbeat Under New Captain
Under Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals have found a fresh rhythm and balance. The opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi offers both stability and aggression, setting the tone upfront. Their middle order stands out as one of the most cohesive, with Sanju Samson anchoring and Dhruv Jurel delivering in finishing roles. The bowling attack is anchored by the pace of Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger, while Ravi Bishnoi's leg-spin provides a vital edge on a surface that tends to assist slower bowlers.
MI vs RR Live Updates: Concern for Mumbai
Mumbai Indians head into the contest with a few key selection questions, most notably around the fitness of captain Hardik Pandya. If Pandya is fully fit to bowl his quota of four overs, it significantly improves MI's balance-something they sorely missed in their previous outing. His presence as a genuine all-rounder allows Mumbai to strengthen both their batting depth and bowling flexibility, making him central to their plans against a strong Rajasthan Royals side.

Orange Alert Added Serious Weather Concern
The biggest talking point, however, is the weather in Guwahati. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and hailstorm activity in the Guwahati region, particularly around the evening hours. This comes just a day after the KKR vs PBKS clash in Kolkata was washed out due to rain.
As per accuweather, storm activity, including gusty winds and lightning, has already been reported in parts of Assam, raising concerns over player safety and match scheduling.
Guwahati Weather Forecast
- 7 PM (Start Time): Around 45-50% rain probability, thunderstorms likely
- 8 PM onwards: Rain chances drop sharply to below 10%
- 9-11 PM: Mostly cloudy but largely dry conditions expected
The forecast suggests that while the start of the match is under threat, conditions are expected to stabilise as the evening progresses.
Will the RR vs MI Match Be Played at Barsapara?
- High chance of delayed start due to early evening storms
- Match likely to proceed if weather clears post 8 PM
- Possibility of reduced overs, but full washout unlikely for now.
- It will be the test of the groundsmen as well as the drainage system of the stadium once it stops raining. The images of past will definitely haunt the organisers because the stadium isn't known for its drainage.
However, the orange alert indicates severe weather risk, meaning any delay could be extended depending on storm intensity and ground conditions.
RR Flying High, MI Seek Consistency
Rajasthan Royals have looked one of the most complete sides in the early phase of the tournament, ticking all boxes with both bat and ball.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, started strong with a win over Kolkata Knight Riders but faltered in their second outing. With Hardik Pandya back, MI will be hoping to deliver a more rounded performance against an in-form RR unit.
