Priyansh Arya's meteoric rise in Indian cricket hit a new milestone when Punjab Kings secured his services for ₹3.8 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Starting with a base price of ₹30 lakh, the left-handed batter has proven his worth with performances in the domestic circuit that speak volumes about his talent and potential. Also Read: Who is Priyansh Arya? Know about Delhi youngster who PBKS bought for Rs 3.80 crore in IPL 2025 Auction

Reflecting on Arya's achievement, coach Sanjay Bhardwaj expressed pride in his pupil's natural flair. "Priyansh's attacking approach has always been there from the start, and I have never stopped him. There have been times when he couldn't perform well, but he remains calm and composed. His fearlessness sets him apart," Bhardwaj told myKhel.
Arya's parents work as teachers at a government school in Delhi, and he trains under Sanjay Bhardwaj, Gautam Gambhir's former coach. Gambhir is now the coach of Indian national cricket team.
He first gained nationwide attention earlier this year in the Delhi Premier League, where he smashed six consecutive sixes in an over. Bhardwaj recalled that iconic inning, saying, "I told him I wouldn't come to watch his matches unless he scored a hundred. After that, he scored three centuries. Even after hitting six sixes in an over, he showed no excitement. That's Priyansh for you-focused and grounded."
The 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy saw Arya as Delhi's top run-scorer, a feat that couldn't save him from going unsold in the IPL 2024 auction. However, Bhardwaj had unwavering faith in his protege.
"Just yesterday, his father and I were having breakfast, and I told him Priyansh would go for over ₹2 crore. When Punjab Kings bought him for ₹3.8 crore, Priyansh simply said he wanted to play good cricket."
There was a bidding war today in Jeddah. Delhi Capitals made the first bid for Priyansh when he was introduced at his base price of INR 30 lakh on the second day of the auction.
Punjab Kings soon got involved, and the price gradually reached INR 1 crore. Royal Challengers Bangalore entered the bidding around that time, and the price continued to rise until PBKS, who had more money to spare at that point, secured their man for INR 3.80 crore.
Looking ahead, Bhardwaj is optimistic. "I just want him to play his best and leave the rest to God. Priyansh has the potential to excel, and I believe he will do well," he concluded. For Priyansh Arya, the IPL stage is now another chance to prove his mettle.
