Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday (August 7) appointed former New Zealand all-rounder Daniel Vettori as the new head coach of the franchise.
The 44-year-old Vettori will take over the reins of the IPL 2016 winning franchise ahead of the IPL 2024 season. SRH have endured disappointing performances in the last couple of seasons and the management is aiming for a fresh start under Vettori's watch. The team will regroup for the IPL 2024 Auction to build the team for the next edition.

SRH have not renewed the contract of West Indies batting legend Brian Lara, who coached the franchise in the last season. SRH - who were captained by South Africa all-rounder Aiden Markram - finished last this season.
In the lead-up to the 2023 IPL season, Lara took over from Tom Moody as the head coach of Sunrisers. However, despite this change, the team's performance remained largely unchanged.
They finished in eighth place during both IPL 2021 and 2022. Disappointingly, Sunrisers ended up at the bottom of the rankings (tenth) in IPL 2023, with only four victories and ten defeats to their name.
Vettori, a skilled left-arm spinner and a capable lower-order batsman, has participated in 34 IPL matches. Throughout his time in the tournament, the tall cricketer with spectacles took 28 wickets and scored 121 runs.
During his IPL career, Vettori played for Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before ultimately retiring from the competition.
Born to a Kiwi mother and an Italian father, Vettori holds the distinction of being the first New Zealand cricketer of Italian heritage.
Following New Zealand's defeat to Australia in the final of the 2015 ODI World Cup, Vettori bid farewell to international cricket. He subsequently transitioned into coaching roles for various national teams such as Australia and Bangladesh, as well as numerous franchise leagues worldwide.
