Jasprit Bumrah's estranged grandfather found dead in Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad

New Delhi, Dec 10: After going missing for a couple of days, Team India cricketer Jasprit Bumrah's grandfather was on Sunday (December 10) found dead in Ahmedabad.

Santok Singh's body was recovered by the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) after his body was pulled out from Sabarmati River situated between Gandhi Bridge and Dadhichi Bridge.

As per reports, Santok (84) was reportedly in Ahmedabad to meet his grandson Jasprit and was missing since Friday. His family members even filed a missing report with the Vastrapur police.

As per reports, the India pacer's family allegedly refused Santok from meeting or talking to him.

As per a report published in Ahmedabad Mirror, the octagenarian went to meet Bumrah and greet him on his birthday, December 5.

"He (Santok) expressed a wish to meet his grandson on his birthday on December 5. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to meet Jasprit. On December 8, Santokh called his son Balvinder Singh, who lives in Jharkhand, and told him that he was leaving to meet his deceased wife," the complaint was quoted by the Ahmedabad Mirror as saying.

As per reports, another source claimed that Santok turned up at his daughter's residence at Sonal Apartments, Vastrapur on December 1, but was offered no apathy by the family.

"When we went to meet Jasprit's mother Daljit Kaur at a city school where she is a teacher, she refused to allow my father any contact with Jasprit. She even refused to share her son's phone number so that father could talk to him. My father was grief-stricken by this. He left home on Friday afternoon and never returned," Rajinder said.

Santok was a living a life of struggle in Uttarakhand's Uddham Singh Nagar and earned his living by driving an autorickshaw.

Bumrah is playing for Team India on Sunday in the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Dharamsala.
