BCCI secretary Jay Shah has made a major announcement on Monday (August 26) regarding prize money in the domestic tournaments.
Shah made a social media post on Monday saying that there will be individual awards in junior cricket and women's cricket. He also said that the apex body of Indian cricket will now introduce Player of the Match awards in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Previously, the individual prize money awards were only limited to Ranji Trophy. But now the senior men's tournaments in limited-overs cricket will also see prize money for the Player of the Match awards.
"We are introducing prize money for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women's and Junior Cricket tournaments under our Domestic Cricket Programme. Additionally, prize money will be awarded for the Player of the Match in the Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments for Senior Men," a tweet from Jay Shah wrote.
"This initiative aims to recognize and reward outstanding performances in the domestic circuit. A heartfelt thank you to the Apex Council for their unwavering support in this endeavour. Together, we are fostering a more rewarding environment for our cricketers," it added.
This may well be the last act for Jay Shah in BCCI before his departure to ICC. Shah has been heavily tipped to become the next ICC chairman, as he looks set to become the 5th Indian to head ICC.
