Dinesh Karthik on Sunday (April 21) joined Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma in the elusive list for players to feature in 250 matches or more in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter achieved the feat of 250 IPL matches when he took the field to represent Royal Challengers Bengaluru against one of his former teams Kolkata Knight Riders in match 36 of IPL 2024 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Karthik, who is fondly called DK, has scored 4742 runs, including 22 fifties, 455 fours and 157 sixes in 249 matches. With the gloves, the 39-year-old is second behind Dhoni for most dismissals, having executed 36 stumpings and 134 catches for a total of 170 dismissals.
As mentioned earlier, Karthik becomes only the third player after Dhoni and Rohit to reach the milestone of 250 games in IPL. Dhoni reached the feat during the title-winning season last year, while Rohit reached the landmark earlier this season.
Unlike Rohit and Dhoni, who have played for just two franchises in their IPL career, Karthik has had stints across various teams in his career, representing six teams since the inception of the lucrative league. Here is a look at players with most IPL caps:
After Karthik, at least one more player, who has been part to the lucrative leage since it's inception in 2008, Virat Kohli is also likely to complete the milestone of 250 matches in IPL by the end of the ongoing season.
