In match 3 of the season, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will open their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday (March 23).
Last time the two sides met, they were led by different captains, but this time KKR will welcome back their skipper Shreyas Iyer, who missed IPL 2023 due to injury, while Pat Cummins will lead an IPL team for the first with his stint at SRH.

Both teams finished outside the playoff spots last season as KKR finished in seventh on the points table, and SRH finished rock bottom, having won just four matches, including their last outing at the Eden Gardens.
Last season’s home defeat aside, KKR, who also welcome back double title winning skipper Gautam Gambhir in a mentor role, possess a brilliant record against SRH. However, the Hyderabad-based outfit have won on their visits to Kolkata. Here is a look at the head to head numbers.

In the reverse fixture, SRH rode on Harry Brook maiden hundred and skipper Markram fifty to post a huge target of 229. In response, skipper Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh struck half centuries that went in vain as KKR fell short of the target by 23 runs at the Eden Gardens.
