Karan Garg, a young wicketkeeper-batter, made waves in the cricketing world with his outstanding batting performance in the ongoing DDCA League Cricket Tournament 2023-24.
The right-handed opening batter recently stole the spotlight with an unforgettable knock in an U19 match against Malviya Cricket Club, showcasing his potential to become the next big name in Indian cricket.

Karan Garg, who represents Pioneer Cricket Club in the U-19 tournament, played one of the knocks of a lifetime by chipping in with an explosive innings in response to Malviya C.C's 468/5 (50 overs). He scored a staggering 295 runs off just 134 balls, wherein he paced his innings with the help of 37 fours and 13 maximums at a mind-blowing strike rate of 220.
This incredible knock helped his team secure a convincing win over Malviya Cricket Club in a hard-fought battle. This special knock gives us a hunch that Karan is well on his way to carving out his own path in the sport.
Meanwhile, what made his innings even more special was, the bat he used was gifted by Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant to one of Karan's seniors. In an interview with myKhel, Karan was asked about playing with Rishabh Pant's bat. "You played with the Rishabh Pant bat. What's the story behind that?" In response, Karan revealed a fascinating backstory.
He said, "This is not my bat actually. I borrowed this bat last night from one of my senior players named Mayank Usaini. I asked him for the bat, and he gave it to me. I just went out and smashed the bowlers."
Karan Garg used the bat to craft one of the most memorable knocks of his career. His explosive style and aggressive batting have drawn attention, and it is no surprise that his cricketing inspirations are some of the best in the game.
When asked about his favourite cricketer and his sources of inspiration, Karan replied, "My favourite cricketers are Virat Kohli, Ben Stokes, and obviously, Rishabh Pant is one of them."
Talking about his cricket journey, the youngster - who hails from Delhi's Rohini and trains at the Ramakant Achrekar Academy in the same locality of West Delhi - said he doesn't have a sports background.
"I am the only athlete in my family, my father is a businessman and he has encouraged me at every step of my career. Even when I wasn't picked up in the just-concluded inaugural edition of Delhi Premier League (DPL) my father and coach kept my morale high," the youngster added further.
When probed further about how he felt about the DPL snub, he said, "Such things are not in our control but I did feel bad as several of the players with whom I have played were picked up by the teams. Hopefully, next year (he said with a smile)."
Karan aspires to be the next big thing in Delhi Cricket and hopes to be picked up by the state selectors. "I am aiming to get selected for the Delhi U23 team, the selection trials will be happening soon and I want to give my best as I too want to play for India one day."
