Varun Chakravarthy showcased a stellar performance in the during India vs England 3rd T20I in Rajkot on January 28, 2025. The spinner picked up five wickets while conceding only 24 runs in his four-over spell.

This was Varun's second five-wicket haul in T20Is, making him the second Indian bowler to achieve this feat twice, after Kuldeep Yadav. India now faces a target of 172 to clinch the series. Below is the complete list of Indian bowlers who have taken five-wicket hauls in T20Is:

Varun's spell in Rajkot dismantled England's middle-order, with wickets coming at crucial junctures. England managed to score 171/9 in their 20 overs, courtesy of a resilient knock by Jos Buttler. Alongside Varun, Hardik Pandya chipped in with two wickets, while Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel claimed one each.

Varun's first five-wicket haul came against South Africa in Gqeberha on November 10, 2024. In that match, he rattled the Proteas' batting lineup with figures of 5/17, showcasing his ability to dominate on pitches that assist spinners. His precise lines, deceptive variations, and ability to outfox batters made him one of India's most dependable bowlers in the shortest format.

Varun is in the company of this elite list, including several memorable performances by Indian bowlers. Deepak Chahar holds the record for the best-ever T20I bowling figures for India, with his extraordinary 6/7 against Bangladesh in Nagpur on November 10, 2019. Chahar's devastating spell included a hat-trick and remains a hallmark of India's dominance in T20 bowling.

Yuzvendra Chahal's 6/25 against England in Bengaluru on February 1, 2017, is another standout performance. Chahal, known for his guile and control, spun a web around the English batters to lead India to a comprehensive victory.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, a master of swing and control, has two five-wicket hauls to his name. His 5/4 against Afghanistan during the Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai is one of the most economical spells in T20I history. Another notable performance from Bhuvneshwar came in Johannesburg in 2018, where his 5/24 against South Africa displayed his ability to excel in different conditions.

Kuldeep Yadav, the other Indian to achieve this feat twice, recorded 5/17 against South Africa in Johannesburg in December 2023. His left-arm wrist spin adds a unique dimension to India's bowling attack, and his spells have often proved decisive in critical matches.
