... THE RUN CHASE ...
Easy work for the chase? Spirit will be relieved to have at least scraped past the 100-run mark, but a target of 106 looks well below par. With all the momentum firmly in their corner and their bowling unit flying high, Southern Brave will be roaring with confidence as they step out to chase this down and secure back-to-back wins!
A quick chat - Southern Brave's Jofra Archer says he is very pleased with the way things turned out. He admits a few deliveries could easily have raced away for boundaries but is happy that he ultimately came out on top. Speaking about the rhythm behind his bowling, he mentions that playing continuous cricket since December has been the biggest factor. He explains that there is nothing specific to break down, adding that he has hardly practiced because he has been playing a match every three or four days. Reflecting on his turnaround after a quiet start to the campaign, he points out that he went wicketless in his first three games but has now picked up four wickets. He signs off by saying cricket always has a way of rewarding persistence.
Bairstow stood alone - It was a proper collapse from London Spirit, with just one man holding the line, Jonny Bairstow. While wickets fell around him like dominoes, Bairstow waged a gritty lone battle, smashing 56 off 43 balls to give his side something to bowl at. Unfortunately for Spirit, no one else stepped up to support him, and the entire team was bundled out for a modest 105 in just 92 balls.
The Spirit have been bundled for 105 runs - Southern Brave put on an absolute clinic with the ball, led by a ruthless spell from Jofra Archer. Archer was virtually unplayable, ripping the heart out of the London Spirit batting lineup with stunning figures of 4 for 9. Resting up and letting his pace do the talking, he made every single delivery count and kept Spirit under relentless pressure from the opening whistle.

London run out of answers - London Spirit showed plenty of fight with the ball, but they simply didn't have enough runs to work with. David Willey struck early and later added a second wicket despite proving a touch expensive, while Adam Zampa and James Coles briefly reignited hopes with quick strikes to trigger Southern Brave's middle-order wobble. However, they couldn't sustain the pressure, as the South African duo absorbed the challenge before taking the game away with a decisive partnership.
Archer blows Spirit away - Earlier in the game, London Spirit endured a disappointing outing with the bat, posting a well below-par total despite Jonny Bairstow's fighting 56 off 43. The opener had to weather a testing start before finding his rhythm, but received little support as the innings unravelled dramatically, with Spirit losing their last eight wickets for just 49 runs. Southern Brave were relentless with the ball, led by Jofra Archer's sensational spell of 4/9, while Marcus Stoinis claimed three wickets, Adil Rashid chipped in with two, and Chris Jordan wrapped up a clinical all-round bowling performance with one of his own.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Jofra Archer wins the award for his superb spell of 4/9. He says that he is elated that they got the win today. He reckons that this is the first time he has got 4 wickets and he is happy with that. Archer mentions that they stuck to their plan and things went right. He ends by saying that they will try and carry on with the same momentum.
Calm heads prevail - Despite losing an early wicket, Southern Brave came out with positive intent, with Jamie Smith blazing his way to a rapid 36 off 22 to put the chase on course. Just when everything seemed under control, however, London Spirit struck back brilliantly, reducing Brave from 55/2 to 60/5 to turn the game on its head. With the pressure mounting, the South African duo of Tristan Stubbs and David Miller combined for an unbeaten match-winning 51-run partnership, absorbing the pressure before shifting gears. Miller's experience proved invaluable as his composed 39 off 28 guided Southern Brave over the line comfortably.
A perfect day for Brave - Southern Brave complete the double over London Spirit, with the women setting the tone earlier in the day before the men followed it up with another impressive victory. Back-to-back wins see Brave gathering momentum at just the right stage of the competition, while London Spirit slump to a third defeat of the season and will need to regroup quickly if they are to get their campaign back on track.
