LSG Retained & Released Players List IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants Squad & Purse Heading Into IPL 2024 Auction

Lucknow Super Giants - who are into their third IPL season - retained the core group of players for the IPL 2024. The Lucknow-based franchise released just four players and traded one ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction.

The LSG squad ahead of the auctions, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on December 19, the franchise retained as many as 19 players from the previous season of the cash-rich league.

The Super Giants - who are being led by KL Rahul - have had a productive first couple of seasons in the Indian Premier League as they made it to the playoffs on both occasions. The franchise, however, failed to make it to the finals but left everyone impressed with the brand of cricket it has played.

In the IPL 2023 edition, LSG lost to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator after finishing third in the points table at the end of the league stage. The franchise went through a complete rehaul in terms of team management ahead of the auctions. LSG have 19 players ahead of the auction.

The LSG will be coached by former Australia cricketer and coach Justin Langer in IPL 2024 while Pravin Tambe and Morne Morkel have been appointed as the spin and fast bowling coaches respectively for the team. South African legend Jonty Rhodes is the fielding coach of the team, which is owned by Sanjiv Goenka of the RPSG Group.

Ahead of the IPL Auction, LSG traded Karnataka batter Devdutt Padikkal from Rajasthan Royals in exchange for pacer Avesh Khan while West Indies cricketer Romario Shepherd has been traded to Mumbai Indians.

In the upcoming IPL Auction, the franchise will be looking to buy some good players who can fill in the gaps and act as potential replacements in case of injury to key players. The LSG think tank will look for some all-rounders and bowlers from the domestic circuit as well to have a good talent pool.
