Looking ahead - A below-par batting performance has somewhat helped Sunrisers Leeds into a fighting total, and they will feel they left a few runs out on the park. MSG's disciplined approach of picking up regular breakthroughs successfully restricted a dangerous lineup from completely breaking free. According to the broadcasters, Manchester Super Giants will need to chase this target in 75 balls or fewer to leapfrog Sunrisers Leeds into second place on net run rate. With so much resting on how the chase unfolds, we are in for some exciting action on the other side of the contest.
Word from the MSG camp - Sonny Baker is up for a chat. Baker calls it a really good team performance, with the bowlers putting in a strong effort and the spinners doing particularly well to keep things under control through the middle phase. He also says he was looking to mix up his pace more than he has done previously. Baker was delighted to get Harry Brook's wicket, knowing how destructive he can be and how difficult he is to bowl to with his constant movement around the crease. Mentions that the cross-seam delivery proved effective on this surface. He backs the batting unit to get the job done.
Clutch bowling by MSG - Despite the solid platform, the Sunrisers Leeds consistently lost wickets just as their batters looked primed to launch a final assault. The MSG bowling unit was brilliant throughout the innings, hunting effectively in crucial moments and never allowing the opposition to put on a show worthy of their true batting calibre. Gus Atkinson took 3 ot of which a couple came in his final set. Baker bowled brilliantly with a crucial two-wicket haul. They received excellent support from the rest of the attack, as every bowler entered the wickets column to keep the scoring rate in check.
Explosive start fizzles - After being put in to bat first, Sunrisers Leeds managed to post 127 before getting bowled out on the final ball. The Sunrisers Leeds started brilliantly at the top with a rapid 42-run opening stand inside the Powerplay. Ryan Rickelton did his job perfectly by providing early momentum, while Mitchell Marsh capitalised on the start to push past the Powerplay restrictions before perishing for a well-made 32. Brook showed glimpses of danger but departed quickly for 10, and Dan Lawrence endured a disappointing outing with the bat. Zak Crawley later played a decent hand of 31 to keep the scoreboard ticking, ensuring that almost every frontline batter got a start.
OUT! MATTHEW POTTS IS RUN OUT! Sunrisers Leeds have been bowled out for 127. Gus bowls the off-cutter, on a good length, outside off. Potts walks across the stumps for the scoop but then tries to adjust to the line of the ball and angle it past short third. He misses, and as the ball goes on the bounce to the keeper, the batters set off for a bye. Jos Buttler releases an underarm throw towards the keeper but misses. Atkinson gathers the ball on the follow-through and flicks onto the stumps at the bowling end to catch Potts short of his ground.
No hat-trick. Atkinson goes full and straight, on middle. Ahmed gives the bowler the charge and exposes all three stumps. He gets his bat down hurriedly and digs it out back to the bowler. Gus cannot make a clean stop and it is parried away beside the strip on the leg side. The batters pick up a quick single.

OUT! TAKEN! Two in two for Gus Atkinson. Pace off and into the wicket again by Atkinson, on off. Ellis stands deep in the crease with an open stance, looking to power it back over the bowler's head. It goes straight up the chimney and Paul Walter takes the simplest of catches at cover. Atkinson is on a hat-trick now.
Nathan Ellis is the new man in for Sunrisers Leeds.
OUT! CAUGHT! Brydon Carse holes out. Atkinson goes into the wicket, on middle. Carse makes room and swings across for the pull but he does so very early. Gets it right off the toe end of the blade and it goes straight down the throat of Heinrich Klaasen, who is well in off the ropes at deep mid-wicket.
Gets a yorker in at the toes. Carse clears the front leg and jams it out in front of deep mid-wicket before coming back for the second run.
A well-disguised slower ball, on a length, outside off. Carse throws his hands at it but is undone by the slowness of the ball.
In the air...but it lands safely. Tongue takes pace off and pitches it up, on off. Carse hangs deep in the crease and swings to go down the ground. Skies it a long way up and it eventually lands just on the edge of the ring at mid off before Michael Bracewell can get in off the ropes. Two taken.
Gets the yorker in at the base of the off pole. Potts squeezes it wide of cover for a single.
Honing in on the off stump, full in length. Potts gets behind the line and stabs it towards Paul Walter at a catching cover.

OUT! TAKEN! Another one bites the dust. Bowled on a length, angled in at the stumps. Lawes backs away and swings at it but is rushed and the bat turns in his hand. Slices it in front of mid off, where Liam Dawson runs in and slides forward to complete the catch.
Josh Tongue comes back into the attack. Manchester Super Giants have failed to bowl their quota of overs in the allocated innings timer and they'll need to bring an extra fielder inside the circle. Buttler brings Long on inside the circle and MSG will now be required to have 5 fielders inside the inner circle.
FOUR! It nearly went the distance. Baker goes full and keeps the stumps in play at 85 mph. Carse collapses his back knee and gets under the ball before launching it back over the bowler's head. The long on fielder gets around but fails to reach there in time. One bounce and over the ropes.
Dug in short, over off. Carse hops and tries to angle it behind point but misses.
Into the wicket, on middle. Carse has a big heave across the line but can only connect with thin air.
FOUR! That has rocketed to the fence. Full and attacking the stumps. Carse dances down the track and backs away. He cracks the drive past backward point for a boundary.
Brydon Carse is next to bat.
OUT! CAUGHT! Sonny Baker strikes on his return to the attack. Baker follows the right-hander, looking to go full but ends up serving it in the slot. Crawley clears the front leg and has a heave across the line but only gets the height and not the distance. It goes only as far as deep mid-wicket, where Michael Bracewell has his shades on and is looking into the sun but manages to take a good reverse cup catch around his chest.
A direct hit could have been interesting. Full and on middle. Thomas Lawes knocks it in front of mid on and hurries to the other end. The sub fielder, Tom Moores misses the shy at the bowling end.
Lawes is looking all at sea against the pace of Tongue. Hits the back of a length, on middle. Thomas hangs back to deal with it but is beaten for pace.
Excellent take by Jos Buttler. Angled into the right-hander, on a back of a length. Lawes plays all around it and gets hit on the back thigh pad. Buttler was moving to his left with the angle of the ball and is caught wrong-footed as the ball deflects off the pads and goes to his right. Jos sticks out his right mitt and makes the stop low to his right.
Not far away from the off stump. Tongue nails the yorker at 91 mph, just outside the off stump. Lawes is late in getting his bat down and it sneaks under the blade.
Final day awaits - Wednesday, 12th August is the final day of league-stage action, with plenty still to be decided. First up, Welsh Fire take on London Spirit, with the women's game starting at 4 pm IST (10.30 am GMT) and the men's game at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). Birmingham Phoenix and MI London will also meet, with the women's game starting at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), followed by the men's game at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT). Both women's games are dead rubbers, with the playoff spots already locked in. Trent Rockets Women have secured their place in the final, while Sunrisers Leeds Women booked their spot in the Eliminator earlier today with their win, where they will face Southern Brave Women. As it stands - Trent Rockets are through to the final, but with the last day still to come, two playoff spots remain up for grabs with four teams in contention. Manchester Super Giants are now all but through to the Eliminator, with this win lifting their net run rate to +0.791 and putting them in second place, ahead of Sunrisers Leeds' +0.603 in third. According to Ian Ward on air, MI London, who currently sit fourth with 16 points and a net run rate of +0.262, would need to win by around 59 runs in their final game to move ahead of Leeds on net run rate. Welsh Fire also have 16 points but are only mathematically alive, with their poor net run rate of -1.001 making their task considerably tougher.
Reflecting on the win - The captain of Manchester Super Giants, Jos Buttler says that once they restricted Sunrisers Leeds to 127, they knew they had the power to breeze past this total if it clicks. Buttler reckons that with Marsh and Ryan Rickelton at the top, and Brook in the middle, Sunrisers make for a scary side, and even today they got a great start, but his bowlers did well to keep them to a manageable total. Buttler says they aimed to keep taking wickets even if a bowler went for a few, as that was the only thing that could have kept the score in check.
Leeds kept in check - After being asked to bat first, Sunrisers scored 47 runs in the Powerplay, and it was as good as it got for them. The usual suspect, Mitchell Marsh, blazed his way through the opening phase, but Manchester Super Giants managed to nip his charge in the bud. From there, they tightened the screws through the middle phase with wickets at regular intervals and kept Leeds from building the momentum they would have wanted. Sunrisers were bowled out for 127, their lowest score of the season, and it could not have come at a worse time with so much riding on the game.
A chase over in a flash - Chasing 128 was not much of an issue for the Manchester Super Giants, but the bigger picture was getting there within 75 balls to leapfrog Sunrisers Leeds into second place. Tim Seifert broke the back of the chase with a blistering start and put the Super Giants firmly on course to get the job done. Paul Walter played his part too, making Leeds look listless with the ball. Knowing that the game was unlikely to go the distance after Manchester's flying start, Zak Crawley front-loaded his bowlers in search of a breakthrough, but barring Nathan Ellis, none of them could exert any real control as the Super Giants raced towards their target.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Tim Seifert takes home the award for his scintillating knock of 80 not out off 40 balls. Tim says it feels good to put up a dominating performance as such and the squad is happy with such a win. Mentions that they have done what was in their hands and they will just wait and see what happens up next. Says that it is a great tournament to be involved in and the crowd is absolutely amazing as well. Tim closes by saying that Mitchell Marsh and Ryan Rickelton gave Sunrisers Leeds a good start and credits his bowlers for a brilliant comeback and restricting them to 127.
The Super Giants take a giant leap - The night could hardly have gone any better for them as they not only grabbed the four points but also put themselves in pole position to lock in one of the two remaining playoff spots. With this result, Trent Rockets are through to the final, while Sunrisers Leeds are pushed into the Eliminator race. Riding a three-match winning streak, Sunrisers had a direct place in the final up for grabs, but simply could not turn up on the night.
