Men's African Games Ghana 2024: Semi-final matches are being played on Thursday (March 21) in the ongoing 13th edition of the African Games, held in the Ghanaian capital city Accra.
On the last day of the pool stage of the 8-team competition, South Africa (University Sport South Africa) lost to Uganda while hosts Ghana lost to Kenya in the Group A encounters. In the Group B encounters on Wednesday Nigeria lost to Zimbabwe and Namibia defeated Tanzania in a largely one-sided encounter. The semi-finalists were decided after these matches.

In the first semi-final, Namibia face Uganda while Kenya lock horns with Zimbabwe in the second semi-final of the competition. The winners of these two games will play in the finals while the losers will contest for the third-place finish to claim the bronze medal.
The African Games, a multi-sporting event, mark a historic milestone for the nation as it is hosting this prestigious sporting event for the first time. Cricket matches are scheduled to take place at the iconic Achimota Cricket Oval in T20 format. All the games have international status.
Divided into two groups of four teams each, Group A comprises South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, and the host nation Ghana; and Group B features Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Namibia. In the group stage, each team will face off against their counterparts in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals.
As the group stage draws to a close, the top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals, scheduled for March 21. In the semi-finals, the highest-ranked team from Group A (A1) will clash with the second-ranked team from Group B (B2), while the top-ranked team from Group B (B1) will take on the second-ranked team from Group A (A2).
The tournament's pinnacle moment, the finals, is set to unfold on March 23, with the finalists vying for championship glory. Before the final match, the third-place playoff will feature the losing semi-finalists competing for a podium finish, intensifying the tournament's excitement.
