The death overs are a crucial part of cricket either for the batting team or the fielding side as the batters look to accelerate the scoring rate during the closing stages of an innings.
The death overs are important in any limited overs format of the game and is true to the Indian Premier League, where we have seen many records, especially the ones for sixes tumble.

Death overs in T20 cricket or the IPL is in the closing stages, that is from overs 17-20 of each innings. The last 30 balls of a T20 match, usually shows which team gains an advantage in the match, just like how powerplays show the fast starters gain early advantage.
One player, who is owner of some batting records in the death overs in IPL is the Chennai Super Kings great and the best finisher himself Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has smashed over 150 maximums and scored over 2000 runs in overs 17-20 in IPL.
Dhoni is followed by Mumbai Indians great Kieron Pollard, who has struck 127 maximums and close to 2000 runs in the death overs. Another T20 great and Royal Challengers Bangalore great AB de Villiers with 112 sixes and over 1400 runs makes up the top three.
While the veteran trio make up the top three, the chasing pack, which has a long way to reach them, features the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Andre Russell, Hardik Pandya, David Miller, Dinesh Karthik, Amabti Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja to name a few.
Rohit and Kohli are the only top order batters top appear in the top 10, showcasing how the pair bat through the innings to carry their sides home. The remaining batters all have the reputation of finishing matches.
