Colombo, Sep 3: Veteran India wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni created yet another world record as became the first player to effect 100 stumpings in one-day international.
MS Dhoni, playing his 301st ODI, stumped Akila Dananjaya off Yuzvendra Chahal's delightful leg spin bowling.
The glovesman, thus, surpassed former Sri Lanka captain and wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara's 99 stumpings record.
Sangakkara had 99 stumpings from 404 matches and the 36-year-old Jharkhand equalled him with the same number of stumpings from 298 matches. Dhoni had to wait for three more games to get his 100th victim.
Former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Romesh Kaluvitharana has 75 stumpings from 189 matches.
Former Moin Khan stumper 73 stumpings from 219 matches is in the fourth place and in the fifth place is former Australian stumper Adam Gilchrist with 55 stumpings from 287 matches.
Earlier, Dhoni showed brilliant presence of mind to quickly run across and then pick the ball up and threw the ball at the bowler's end to run out Hasaranga. He failed to pouch a catch on that delivery but five seconds after an opportunity goes down, Dhoni makes up for it. Chahal gathered it neatly and dislodged the bails.
