MS Dhoni equals Allan Border's record, becomes 2nd most successful ODI captain

New Delhi, June 15: As a young Indian cricket team finished a 3-0 whitewash against Zimbabwe in the three match One-Day International series here at Harare, skipper MS Dhoni registered his first ever cleansweep on a foreign soil.

The 'Captain Cool' registered his 107th ODI match win under his captaincy today (June 15) and equalled Australia's legendary skipper Allan Border's record.

Dhoni, now is 2nd most successful ODI captain, first being Australia's two-time world cup winning skipper Ricky Ponting.

Border captained Australia in 178 ODI matches from 1985 to 1994 and won 107 games. Australia lost just 67 games under his leadership.

Dhoni, on the other hand, has led India in 195 ODI matches and won 107 of them. India lost 72 matches under MS Dhoni in the period of 2007-2016.

Dhoni also left Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga behind in the previous game after leading India in 194 ODI matches. Ranatunga had led the Lankan side in 193 matches.

Ricky Ponting, who tops this table, has captained Australia on 230 ocassions and won 165 matches while lost just 51 ODI games. He enjoyed in incredible winning percentage of 76.14.

Dhoni, India's most successful captain in all three formats, is also the only captain to have led his side top in all the formats. Under his leadership India won the maiden ICC T20 2007, ICC WC 2011 and No.1 Test ranking for 18 months.
