MS Dhoni IPL 2023 knee injury: CSK CEO gives update on captain cool's availability against Gujarat Titans

The suspense over the availability of Chennai Super Kings' charismatic captain MS Dhoni for the opening game against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 has dampened the morale of his fans.

As per reports, MS Dhoni did not practice in the nets with the bat on the eve of the tournament opener against Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday (March 30).

It is being reported that the former India captain has a niggle in his left knee and that is a reason why he didn't attend the practice session. The senior wicketkeeper-batter was spotted on the ground where the players were sweating it out in the nets for one last time before the big evening.

He was seen wearing a kneecap on the field but did some wicketkeeping drills on the ground. Reports claim that the right-handed batter from Jharkhand is unlikely to play in the first match of the competition as he's not completely fit and the team management doesn't want to risk him as the tournament will only get tougher with every passing match.

While fans on social media started expressing their disappointment over Dhoni possibly missing the highly-anticipated match of the tournament. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has rubbished the reports and assured that captain cool will be available for his team's opening game.

However, CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan while speaking with PTI ahead of the team's first match of the season claimed, "As far as I am concerned, Dhoni will play 100 per cent."

Also, there wasn't any pre-match press conference from Chennai Super Kings as well as Gujarat Titans' side. A pre-match presser would have ideally given an update about the team's composition.
