MS Dhoni, who is India's most successful captain across all formats, has been a destructive batsman in the ODIs but his performance in the T20 format hasn't been that impressive.

In an interview to India Today Ganguly said, "I am not too sure if Dhoni is a good T20 player. He is a champion ODI player but when it comes to T20 cricket, in 10 years, he has got one fifty and that's not the best record."

Ganguly, however, feels that the former India captain should be picked up for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2017 but he has to score runs.

Ganguly, in the interview, suggested Dhoni to focuss on his batting and said the latter would have to bat an hour at the nets everyday.

Former Australian captain Michael Clarke also felt that Dhoni needs to score runs but for himself.

"Dhoni has to score runs for himself. As a professional, he has to," Clarke told India Today.

Dhoni has played 286 ODIs and scored 9275 runs in the limited overs format and averages 50.96.

Dhoni, who is playing for the first time as a player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, hasn't performed as per the expectations in the ongoing league.

With scores of 12*, 5 and 11 in the 3 IPL 10 games he has played so far for the Rising Pune Supergiant, the 35-year-old cricketer has failed to live up to the expectations of his fans.
