Dubai, Oct 7: Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday (October 7) claimed he's definitely going to play in the IPL 2022 season but said he's uncertain if he's going to be a part of the CSK set-up. MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket last year but continued to offer his services in the IPL.
While speaking about his IPL future at toss during the last league match of CSK in the tournament, Dhoni claimed he's definitely going to don a yellow jersey but whether it will be the yellow of the Super Kings, he's not sure because two new teams are going to be launched next season.
The 40-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman added that the uncertainties around the IPL 2022 Auction are because the BCCI hasn't yet revealed the retention policy for the next season.
"Well you can see me in yellow, but whether I'll be playing for CSK there are a lot of uncertainties around it for a simple reason that we have two new teams coming up. We don't know the retention policy. We don't know how many foreigners, Indian players we can retain, the money cap that every player will be cutting from the kitty. So there are a lot of uncertainties. Unless the rules are in place you can't really decide that. So we will wait for it to happen and hopefully, it will be good for everyone," Dhoni said.
Earlier on Wednesday (October 7), while attending a function to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India Cements, Dhoni said he would like his last game to be at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
"When it comes to the farewell, you can come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game. So, you will get the opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully, we will come to Chennai and play my last game over there and can meet all the fans," he said during the function.
