Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni is one of the most popular cricketers in the country. He might have retired from international cricket but there's no dearth of supporters for the legendary player.

The fan craze for Dhoni in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 could be witnessed across every venue. The sea of yellow descends in every stadium irrespective of home support in the IPL.

The 42-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Jharkhand enjoys immense popularity in Tamil Nadu and the fandom goes to the next level when CSK has a home game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

CSK fans are often seen on the roads when the team bus, titled the Whistle Podu Express, plies on Chennai roads to take the players to and from the team hotel.

Passionate CSK fans chase the team bus all the way from hotels to the stadium and vice versa to get a glimpse of their favourite 'Thala'. The sight of CSK taking a tour of the city in an open bus, before the start of IPL 2018, is one of the iconic videos highlighting the craze of Super Kings.

A similar video highlighting the fans' craze for Dhoni is doing the round on social media. The fan kept chasing the team bus. The video captured Dhoni sitting in the back seat of the team bus. Spotting the fans shouting his name and following him, Dhoni waved the fans - giving a thumbs up to the fans.

An Instagram user captioned the video, "Unbelievable Yesterday. THALA waving back to me with @shade__soul. Every MSD fan Boy needed it. Finally happens to me @mahi7781🦁@chennaiipl."

Talking about Chennai Super Kings' journey in the ongoing IPL 2023, the MS Dhoni-led side is currently placed second in the points table with 13 points in 11 games. They have won six games and lost five while one match was washed out due to rain.

"RCB would have won 3 IPL trophies by now if MS Dhoni was their captain. They have not won a single trophy until now. They have so much support.

"Also, they have the world's top modern-era player Virat, but unfortunately, they have not won. If Dhoni was in RCB, he would have helped them win the title," former Pakistan cricketer Akram was quoted by Sportskeeda.
