Nidahas Trophy 2018: Shakib Al Hasan to feature in Bangladeshs all-important T20I against Sri Lanka

Colombo, March 15: Bangladesh received a major boost ahead of the virtual semi-final against Sri Lanka in the ongoing Nidahas Trophy 2018 as their captain Shakib Al Hasan has been added to their squad.

The all-rounder was nursing a finger injury and has recovered from it. He will now be part of the Bangladesh squad and will feature in the all-important final round-robin match in the tri-nation series against Sri Lanka on Friday (March 16). The winners from that game will face India in the final on Sunday (March 18).

Shakib has played 61 T20Is for Bangladesh and picked up 73 wickets at an economy of 6.8. The left-handed batsman has also scored runs at a strike rate of 121.20. He was ruled out of the Test series against Sri Lanka at home and Bangladesh lost the series.

He was initially included in the Bangladesh squad for the tri-nation series but was later advised more rest by the doctor. The board has now confirmed that Shakib is fit to play and will feature in the all-important clash against hosts Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh on Wednesday (March 14) lost to India by 6 wickets and are thus languishing at the bottom of the table. But a win against hosts in the last league game of the series would take them to the finals.

Both teams have two points with a victory each in the tri-series so far. Sri Lanka surprised India in the tournament opener while Bangladesh convincingly chased down a target of 215 set by the host's last week. But India later went on winning the remaining two games.
