New Delhi, Aug 11: The troubles continue for the Delhi cricket team as former captain Nitish Rana and last year's leading run-scorer in the Ranji Trophy, Dhruv Shorey, have requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from DDCA to play for other states during the upcoming domestic season.
DDCA joint secretary Rajan Manchanda confirmed this development on Friday (August 11). He stated that both players will be given an opportunity to explain their decision before any final decisions are made.

"Yes, it is true that both Dhruv and Nitish want to leave Delhi and have sought NOC. We will definitely request them to stay as they are senior players who have served Delhi Cricket. However, if they do not agree, we will give them the NOC," said Manchanda.
It is understood that Rana was unhappy about being replaced by Yash Dhull as the white ball captain. Additionally, he had issues with certain players in the dressing room, including Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hrithik Shokeen.
Despite Shorey's impressive performance last season with 859 runs, Delhi failed to qualify for the knock-outs. This may have contributed to his desire to move on from the team.
"Nitish is upset because he was dropped from the red ball team and removed from captaincy. Dhruv is annoyed because selectors labelled him as a red ball specialist last season. Hence, they want to move on," revealed a DDCA director anonymously.
The possibility of Rana being offered captaincy by DDCA remains uncertain. When asked about addressing grievances of Rana and Shorey who are close friends within the team setup, Manchanda responded by saying that selection matters are under the purview of the selection committee.
Himmat Singh has emerged as a frontrunner for captaining Delhi in the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. Many within DDCA believe that it was a rushed decision to appoint Dhull as captain, considering he had only played one first-class season at that point.
However, Dhull is still being considered by the national selection committee for India A and has been called up for a camp. As a result, he will not be participating in the Buchi Babu Trophy in Chennai.
"Yash has been called up for a camp at NCA along with Navdeep Saini. He will not be playing in the Buchi Babu Trophy. We are looking at Himmat as a potential leader who never shies away from challenges," revealed a senior DDCA official familiar with the situation. It is also rumoured that Abhay Sharma may not continue as Delhi's head coach for the upcoming season.
