Star Pakistani cricketer Mohammed Rizwan shared his thoughts with the media following his team's resounding victory over the Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in Hyderabad.
Rizwan's pivotal knock of 68 runs and his remarkable partnership of 120 for the fourth wicket played a crucial role in rescuing Pakistan from a challenging situation. Rizwan and Saud Shakeel equal number of runs on the pitch after the top-order collapse and staved off the Dutch challenge from shocking them.

Reflecting on his team's overall performance in the match against a spirited Dutch side, Rizwan - who is one of the best white-ball cricketers in Pakistan currently - said such learnings will make the team stronger in the coming days.
"When a team faces a situation where wickets fall in quick succession, it's only natural to feel the pressure. However, a strong team is one that can bounce back from any situation, and that's precisely what we did. We aim to continue this resilience throughout the tournament. In cricket, it's a collective effort, and every department plays an equally vital role.
"This was evident in our match against the Netherlands. While our top order struggled, the middle and lower-middle order stepped up to the occasion," Rizwan remarked while reflecting on his team's performance.
When asked if he sought any advice from former players who have experienced playing in India, considering this was his first international cricket tour to the country, Rizwan shared, "The playing conditions in cricket can be unpredictable, even within the course of a single match. Pitches may behave differently over time, so one must be prepared for all possibilities. Match practice is invaluable and distinct from net sessions."
"To prepare for Indian conditions, I had a conversation with Saeed Anwar before arriving here. He emphasized the need to adapt to India's unique conditions. While Indian pitches are generally good, they can exhibit varying behaviors in a short span. Preparing for India is distinct from preparing for a tour to Australia, for example," he added.
Rizwan also expressed his high regard for Saud Shakeel, foreseeing a bright future for the young talent in Pakistani cricket. "Saud Shakeel, in my opinion, is a rising star for Pakistan. If he continues his current form and work ethic, he's poised to become the next superstar in Pakistani cricket."
Regarding the team's experience in India, Rizwan conveyed his excitement, saying, "We are genuinely thrilled to be playing in India. On behalf of our entire team, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception and support we've received here. The enthusiastic crowds, turning out in significant numbers to cheer for us during the tournament, have been fantastic.
"We eagerly anticipate competing at every venue, even though we regret not having the opportunity to play in Mumbai and Delhi. The atmosphere here has been reminiscent of the support we receive back home. Thus, we don't feel the absence of our home crowd because of the love and affection we've encountered here. We hope for a similar experience at all the venues."
