PAK vs SL: Pakistan superstar Shaheen Afridi having his worst days in India, bowls 9-ball over with injured finger

PAK vs SL: Not all is good in the Pakistani contingent who are in India for the World Cup 2023. They were bundled out for 286 and were in a spot of bother against 14th ranked Netherlands. Shaheen Shah Afridi only increased their worries on Tuesday.

The superstar Pakistan pacer looked highly off-coloured and sprayed it all over the pitch in his second over. Shaheen Afridi bowled as many as three wides to bowl a 9-ball over in Match 8 of the World Cup 2023 against Pakistan at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The express pacer bowled in the mid 130s and struggled to find rhythm. Waqar Younis continuously kept on mentioning about the dropped pace. His average speed against Sri Lanka was around 131 km/h. Ramiz Raja later confirmed that the 23-year-old was facing issues with his bowling finger.

After bowling a haywire second delivery way outside the off, Shaheen Afridi bowled two consecutive deliveries on the leg side. If this was not enough, the left-arm fast bowler was hammered by Kusal Mendis early in his second spell.

Kusal Mendis, who scored a 65-ball hundred in the match, hammered Shaheen Afridi for back-to-back three boundaries in the 25th over. Babar Azam took his strike bowler immediately after the assault.

Shaheen Afridi picked the wicket of Dasun Shanaka in the 47th over but followed it with another wide and then a four. Young Dunith Wellalage hit a cracking boundary on the final ball of the 49th over to bring end to a woeful day for Afridi. On a day when Pakistan needed him badly, he bowled one over less from his allotted 10-over quota as Sri Lanka finished at 344/9.

In the match against Netherlands as well, Shaheen Afridi had failed to pick a wicket upfront. He leaked 37 runs in seven overs to pick the wicket of lower middle-order batter Saqib Zulfiqar.

Pakistan would be sweating over Shaheen Afridi's injury concern in the coming day. Notably, the Babar Azam-led side will next face arch-rival India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, October 14. The team has already lost Naseem Shah to injury, and Haris Rauf has also been hammered heavily ever since arriving in India.
