BCCI misses first deadline to implement Lodha Panel reforms
The BCCI has reportedly decided to increase the match fee for the Test players and a proposal has been approved to almost double it.
As per an India Today report, Indian Test players will get around Rs 15 lakh per Test match who at present draw Rs 7 lakh per match.
The disparity among Test and IPL stars could be understood with the fact that top IPL stars get multiple crores per year while those playing the longer format of the game get much lesser. Good money will also help the board attract more cricketers towards Test cricket.
Most of the young cricketers, nowadays, have adapted to the T20 mode given the lucrative prospects IPL offers.
As per Ahmedabad Mirror report, the BCCI working committee decided to leave it (salary hike o Test players) to board president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke to decide on the amount and it is finally understood that it has been decided to make it Rs 15 lakh each for playing XI and Rs 7.5 lakh for the other members of the squad.
"The president and secretary have been authorised to arrive at a figure and they have decided on this. This move is to attract players into Test cricket," a working committee member said. Besides, the BCCI decided to have more tours for the women players and distribute the CLT20 income among the state units.
The board also agreed to have more tournaments for women's cricket and put in place a payment structure for pitch curators.
