Mumbai, Feb 16: Mumbai Police have registered an FIR after India cricketer Prithvi Shaw was attacked by drunk fans for refusing to pose for a selfie.
As per reports, the young India cricketer declined the over-enthusiastic fans - who were in inebriated condition - for a selfie for the second time which irked them.
A video has also emerged on social media where a girl could be seen pushing the cricketer and shouting.
Later the cricketer's friend was attacked by eight people and his car's window was allegedly broken.
However, the boy and girl - who allegedly got involved in a scuffle with the cricketer - could be heard in one of the videos - doing the rounds on social media - complaining to the security personnel that the cricketer and his friends beat them up. The cricketer can also be seen in the video stopping the person from recording him on the mobile camera and pushing the girl's hands away.
The incident happened on Wednesday (February 15) evening at Mansion Club in Sahara Star Hotel, Mumbai. Two fans, Sana Gill and Shobit Thakur took a selfie with Shaw, to which the U-19 World Cup-winning India captain obliged. But they came to him for another selfie and the cricketer declined their offer. Following this, the hotel management asked the duo to leave.

Apart from creating a scene outside the hotel and complaining to the security personnel, the girl and boy followed Shaw's friend, Ashish Yadav's car. It is alleged that when the car reached near Lotus petrol station at Jogeshwari Link Road, some people blocked Yadav's way and broke the car's window with a baseball bat.
His friend and driver accompanied Ashish at the time of the attack. Shaw wasn't there in the car as he had left for his home in a different vehicle.
After the attack on his car, Ashish went to Oshiwara Police station and filed a complaint. A complaint was filed against eight persons and the cops have started the investigation. Police have lodged a complaint under sections 384,143, 148,149, 427,504, and 506 of the IPC.
A statement released by Mumbai Police later said, "Oshiwara Police has registered a case against 8 persons over an alleged attack on the car of a friend of Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw after Shaw refused to take a selfie for the second time with two people."
As per news reports, Yadav also complained to the police that the attackers came in a white car and three bikes and even demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000.
