Young India cricketer Prithvi Shaw showcased his talent in just his third domestic game in the UK by hitting a sensational double hundred. Shaw - who was ignored for the tour of the West Indies - is playing his first county season.
The talented top-order batter from Mumbai, who's been out of favour from the national side, smashed a 129-ball double hundred for Northamptonshire in their One-Day Cup match against Somerset at the County Ground in Northampton.

The right-handed top-order batter raced ahead after getting to his maiden hundred in the County Season in 81 deliveries. He needed just 22 balls to go from 100 to 150 and then achieved the second double-hundred of his List-A career.
The Mumbaikar smashed 28 boundaries and 11 sixes in his knock of the One-Day Cup match where Northamptonshire were batting first. He scored a mammoth 244 in 153 balls and helped his team post a whopping 415-8 in 50 overs.
With his knock of 244, Shaw, thus, scored at an impressive strike rate of 159.48 to post the sixth-highest score in the history of List A Cricket. Compatriots N Jagadeesan (277), Rohit Sharma (264) and Shikhar Dhawan (248) along with Ali Brown (ENG, 268) and D'Arcy Short (AUS, 257) have scored more runs than Shaw in a 50-over game.
Shaw, who signed to play for Northamptonshire in the County Championship and the One-Day Cup, became the fifth Indian cricketer to play in the 2022-23 domestic season in the UK after Cheteshwar Pujara (Sussex), Ajinkya Rahane (Leicestershire), Arshdeep Singh (Kent) and Navdeep Saini (Worcestershire).
Shaw's performance in his first match was marked by an unusual dismissal where he accidentally kicked his own stumps. Despite this, Shaw's performance was noteworthy, contributing to Northamptonshire's spirited chase of Gloucestershire's total. In his second match, Shaw displayed his batting prowess but fell short of victory once again.
Shaw had a disappointing season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Despite having a successful record in previous seasons, he failed to find form and make a significant impact. His lack of runs led to his exclusion from the playing eleven after just six games.
The youngster - who slammed a ton for India on his Test debut - has had a turbulent journey on the cricket pitch. With untimely injuries and back-date-dope suspension, when he consumed a banned cough syrup, Shaw has fallen out of favour with the selectors after his inconsistent performances.
Shaw - who is still considered a future star across formats - last played for India in a T20I series in January 2023 and has struggled to regain his spot due to poor form. However, he had an impressive Ranji Trophy season before heading to the UK.
