Ravindra Jadeja thanks MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli after becoming No 1 Test all-rounder

Ravindra Jadeja thanks MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli after becoming No 1 Test all-rounder

New Delhi, Aug 10: Ravindra Jadeja has established himself as an asset in the Indian cricket team in all formats of the game.

The Saurashtra cricketer recently climbed at the top of the ICC all-rounders' ranking with his superlative show against Sri Lanka in the second Test.

Jadeja, who will miss the third and third Test against Sri Lanka at Pallekele owing to a suspension from the ICC, displaced Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to claim the top spot.

The 28-year-old, who is already the No.1 Test bowler, grabbed seven wickets and scored an unbeaten 70 in India's innings win over hosts in Colombo Test.

His all-round effort not only bagged him the Man of the Match award but also helped him take an upwardly mobile curve in the all-rounders' rankings.

The cricketer, who once struggled to earn his spot in the national side, has credited two persons -- other than his family -- for playing a crucial role in his success so far.

Jadeja took to Twitter to thank his former captain MS Dhoni and current captain Virat Kohli as the men behind his successful journey.

"My humble journey 2 be #1 Test AllRounder & bowler was possible due 2 @msdhoni @imVkohli, my fans & family #bcci #icc #teamindia #rajputboy," tweeted Jadeja.

Jadeja made his debut under Dhoni and there is no denying the fact that the latter played a vital role in shaping up the career of the left-handed spinner. Dhoni always backed Jadeja's skill as a bowler and guided him from behind the stumps.

It was under Dhoni's watchful eyes that Jadeja honed his skills as a bowler and became a second fiddle to regular spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

While under Virat Kohli's leadership, the chinaman leapfrogged Ashwin to become No. 1 Test bowler and simultaneously climb at the top of ICC all-rounder's rankings.

Jadeja is no more called second fiddle to Ashwin, thanks to his consistently good performance with bat, ball and also on the field.
