RCB vs CSK IPL 2023 match on Monday (April 17) saw a lot of catches being dropped by Chennai Super Kings fielders in the second innings. The dropped chances could have proved costly for MS Dhoni-led side but they held on to their nerves in the end to secure a narrow win.
As many as four catches were being put down by CSK fielders while they were defending a total of 226. Skipper MS Dhoni - who failed to take a sharp catch of RCB captain Faf du Plessis behind the stumps early in the innings - caught two skiers at crucial times in the game to make amends.

With his gloves, Dhoni took the catches of dangerous RCB batters Glenn Maxwell and later Du Plessis to shift the game in his team's favour. The replays showed Dhoni - who has one of the safest pairs of hands behind the wickets - had to make some last-second adjustments to pouch the ball.
Taking sky-high catches under the floodlights is always tricky for the fielders and the spider cams and wide network of cables for the seamless movement of these cameras make the job tougher.
The shadow of ropes in the dark night sky makes it tough for the fielder to spot the ball correctly, hence the increase in dropped catches. While interacting with media persons during the post-match press conference, CSK batter Devon Conway raised the issue.
The New Zealand batter - who was named the player of the match against RCB - indicated it wasn't easy for players to go about their job seamlessly with the shadow of the hovering spider cam causing problems.
The southpaw - who scored 83 off 45 deliveries after CSK were put in to bat first - lamented that things shouldn't come to a point where technology interferes with the game.
"It (interference) happened a couple of times where the ball had got very close to the spider cam as well as the wires, which can obviously put a fielder off. I think Faf stepped away a couple of times because the shadows of the spider cam were in his way. It's obviously a little bit of testing for guys.
"It's nice to have that technology to show different angles of the game but there comes a point where (it) can't get too involved and interfere with the game. MS (Dhoni) was probably trying to speak to the umpires, saying 'don't get too close to the action and try to avoid too much (of what's) going on," Conway said.
The senior New Zealand cricketer also had a word of praise for young Sri Lanka bowler Matheesha Pathirana and the efforts he made in CSK's win. Pathirana's superb bowling in the 18th and 20th overs helped CSK stall RCB's charge.
The right-arm slinger got the wicket of Shahbaz Ahmed (18th over) and conceded just 10 runs in the last over besides taking the wicket of Suyash Prabhudessai as CSK won the game by 8 runs.
"Yes, I think a special effort from Matheesha to come into the team and a first game for him this year in the IPL and execute (his plan) under pressure like that. It was brilliant.
"He is very unorthodox and I personally haven't faced a ball from him, haven't faced him at the nets. It was very crucial to have him with us tonight and execute his plans that ultimately got us the win."
