Parag - the right-handed batter from Assam - slammed his second straight fifty and steered his team to an emphatic six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians on Monday (April 1) in the IPL 2024 match number 14.

With his match-winning effort at Wankhede Stadium, he also snatched the Orange Cap from senior India batter Virat Kohli. Parag now has 185 runs in four games, but the RR top-order batter could only score 4 runs in his fourth innings of IPL 2024.

In Wankhede Stadium on April 1, RR found themselves in troubled waters when their top three batters, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler were dismissed cheaply in the run chase on a lively Wankhede Stadium surface.

Teaming up with all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, Parag stabilised the innings with a partnership of 40 runs, steering his team away from danger. Following Ashwin's dismissal in the 13th over, Parag, who was batting on 24 off 26 balls, took charge, anchoring a 39-run stand with Shubham Dubey for the fifth wicket.

In the 16th over bowled by Gerald Coetzee, the 23-year-old showcased class by smashing the Protea pacer for back-to-back sixes to slam his second half-century in the ongoing competition.

He raised his bat in celebration and even threw some flying kisses towards the fans and supporters sitting in the RR stand while his teammates stood in the dugout to applaud his match-winning performance.

On the next delivery, he hit the winning boundary by hooking him over the wicketkeeper's head secured another fine victory for his team and took them to the top of team standings.
